Professor Oyesoji Aremu of the Department of Counseling and Human Development Studies, University of Ibadan, is set to deliver the fourth memorial lecture in honor of Chief (Dr.) Sunday Adewusi (GCON), a former Inspector General of Police.
The annual lecture, organized by the Ogbomoso Community Foundation (OCF), which the late Chief Adewusi founded, will take place at the Ogbomoso Recreation Club (ORC) on Saturday, February 22, at 10 a.m.
Professor Aremu will speak on the topic: “Failure of Internal Security: Dissecting the Historical and Systemic Dysfunctionality of the Nigeria Police Force.”
The event will be chaired by Dr. Amos Adamu, with Rear Admiral Jacob Ajani (Rtd) as the Special Guest of Honour. Also expected at the occasion is Major General (Dr.) Oladayo Popoola (Rtd), the leader of OCF.
Chief Adewusi, who held the title of Asiwaju of Ogbomosoland until his passing on January 26, 2016, served as Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police from 1981 to 1983 before the military took over the government.
