The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Orire Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, Hon. Babatunde Akanbi Oyelade, has appealed to traditional rulers in Ogbomoso Zone to set aside their differences and unite for the progress and development of the region.

Hon. Oyelade made the appeal while addressing issues affecting the unity and collective growth of Ogbomosoland, stressing that internal divisions and prolonged disagreements among royal fathers were capable of hindering the advancement of the ancient town and weakening its influence in Yorubaland and Nigeria at large.
The ADC chieftain described Ogbomoso as a historically significant town that has contributed immensely to the social, political and economic development of Yorubaland and Nigeria, noting that the city should never be relegated in the annals of history considering the exploits and achievements of its illustrious sons and daughters across the globe.
According to him, the time has come for all stakeholders in Ogbomosoland to embrace reconciliation, mutual understanding and purposeful collaboration in order to move the region to greater heights.
Hon. Oyelade, a son of the late political icon and former Chairman of the Oyo State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Pa Gbadebo Wahab Oyelade, who was also the founder of the Voice of the People (VOP), urged royal fathers to forget past grievances and work together in the interest of peace, unity and development.
He further called on prominent politicians, community leaders, religious leaders and notable sons and daughters of Ogbomosoland to intensify efforts toward fostering harmony among traditional institutions in the zone.
According to him, a united Ogbomoso would be better positioned to tackle insecurity and prevent criminal elements from infiltrating communities within the region.
The ADC candidate also cautioned residents of the five local government areas that make up Ogbomosoland against spreading false information and unverified security reports capable of creating panic among the people and emboldening criminal elements.
Speaking on the recent abduction of pupils, students and teachers during attacks on Esiele and Yawota communities in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, Hon. Oyelade expressed confidence that the victims would soon regain their freedom through the combined efforts of the Oyo State Government and the Federal Government.
He, however, registered his heartfelt sympathy with the families of those who lost their lives in the unfortunate incidents and those whose loved ones are still being held captive by abductors.
Hon. Oyelade prayed that Almighty God would console the bereaved families and grant them the strength to bear the painful loss. He also prayed for the safe and speedy release of those still in captivity, expressing optimism that the affected families would soon have reasons to rejoice again.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the peace, unity and development of Ogbomosoland, urging residents to remain vigilant, law-abiding and supportive of ongoing efforts aimed at restoring security and stability across the region.
