In a renewed demonstration of philanthropy and community commitment, the Executive Assistant to the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Muftau Open Salawu, has fulfilled his promise to channel his official earnings back into public welfare initiatives.
Engr. Salawu, who pledged upon his appointment by Governor Seyi Makinde, FNSE, to donate his entire salary to support vulnerable residents, announced another round of interventions amounting to ₦5 million.

Last year, the governor’s aide empowered five individuals — Ajani Abosede, Moses Oyetunji, Hassana Jimoh, Hammed Musbau, and Azeez Idiayat — with ₦1 million each to boost their small-scale enterprises, a gesture totaling ₦5 million aimed at strengthening grassroots businesses.
Continuing the tradition this year, he has extended assistance to 100 parents, each receiving ₦50,000 to ease the burden of back-to-school expenses amid rising economic challenges.
Engr. Salawu said the initiative is driven by gratitude and a personal philosophy of giving, noting that acts of kindness should be rooted in sincerity rather than self-praise.
“I have learned that giving is essential, and I strive to do so not for validation, but because of the blessings I have received,” he stated.
The gesture has drawn commendations from community stakeholders, who described it as a model of selfless leadership and a timely intervention for struggling families.
