The Oníjérù of Ìjérù in Ogbomoso South Local Government Area of Oyo State, Oba Yekini Ayinla Lawal, Osótònà V, has expressed profound appreciation to the Olótà of Òtà, Ogun State, His Majesty Oba (Professor) Adeyemi Abdukabir Obalenge, Ph.D, Lalenge Ekún II, Arole Iganmode Olofin Olode, and the Paramount Ruler of Awori Kingdom, for his historic and peace-building visit to Ìjérù, a community with ancestral ties to Òtà.

Speaking during the visit, Oba Lawal described the Olótà’s decision to personally visit his kinsmen in Ìjérù as a remarkable act of royal commitment, brotherhood, and unity. He noted that the Olótà’s journey from his domain in Ogun State to Ìjérù, Ogbomoso South, Oyo State, signifies his deep love and sense of responsibility towards his extended Awori descendants who migrated from Òtà centuries ago and eventually settled in Ìjérù.

“The Olótà of Òtà has demonstrated uncommon leadership and an extraordinary sense of kinship. His fatherly role and tireless efforts to ensure that peace reigns among my people in Ìjérù are truly commendable,” Oníjérù stated. “His presence has rekindled our shared ancestry and reaffirmed that we are one indivisible family bound by the same royal lineage.”

Oba Lawal reaffirmed his readiness to work in harmony with all sons and daughters of Ìjérù, including those who had expressed dissent toward his ascension to the throne. He emphasized that the progress, peace, and unity of Ìjérù remain his top priorities.

“I have always maintained that Ìjérù is a town built on history, peace, and progress,” the monarch declared. “I am willing to work hand in hand with all my people, regardless of past misunderstandings, provided they also embrace the spirit of unity and collective growth. Together, we can restore Ìjérù’s pride as an ancient and historically rich community.”

Describing the Olótà as a well-read, urbane, and cosmopolitan monarch, the Oníjérù said that Oba Obalenge’s humility and concern for his people, both at home and abroad, reflect his deep understanding of history and the essence of leadership.

“A wise king never forgets his roots or ignores where his royal bloodline extends,” Oníjérù added. “The Olótà’s visit is symbolic — it reconnects our shared heritage and strengthens the bond that ties the Awori descendants together across state boundaries.”

In the same vein, Oba Lawal extended his appreciation to the Soun of Ogbomoso, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, for warmly receiving the Olótà during his courtesy visit to the Ogbomoso palace.

“The Soun of Ogbomoso has once again demonstrated his fatherly wisdom,” Oníjérù noted. “His royal counsel urging peace, cooperation, and unity among my people will forever remain indelible in our hearts. His open-hearted hospitality has further strengthened the cordial relationship among the traditional rulers in Ogbomoso and beyond.”

The Oníjérù concluded by praying for both monarchs, asking Almighty God to grant them peace, wisdom, long life, and continued divine grace to reign gloriously on their respective thrones.
